Natural gas was measured across three metrics; Production Efficiency and Electricity Generation compared to Coal. Data for production rates and electricity generation rates were taken from the U.S. Energy Information Administration. 2016

Metric Findings
- Indiana has an average score of 5.5 and a rank of 5th.
- Ohio is the highest ranked state and readily embraces natural gas,
- Washington, Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa scored poorly in production as these states currently do not produce and natural gas.
